More on Helsinki

We walked down to the harbor to take a ferry to Suomenlinna fort and on the way I took pictures of architectural features on the buildings. As usual I have no control over the order these pictures load in, but you can tell what is from a building and what is from a 1700s Swedish fort. The Swedes had possession of Finland when the fort was built. I will tell you more about it when I get home to a regular computer.

These are great photos. The guys in the second picture look like they're chatting on their phones.

Jackie/Jake, thanks for stopping by. You're right, they do look like they're talking on their cell phones! How did you find my blog?

This is a blast of history for me. I have never been there and my great grandma didnt know much since she wasnt born until August 1916. I know they speak a way different language than we do. I have googled it and at school they have this translator thing on the computers.

Everything has such a patina of age about it in a way that you only really see in the US in New England.

Love the statue / figure thingie where the dude just HAD to make sure the breasts were there despite not really having room for them. Hey, priorities! ;-)
