I did it.

I started writing a novel almost two years ago, not knowing where I was going with the idea, or even if I would have the wherewithall to finish it.  Well, yesterday, 13 days short of the two year anniversary of when I started it, I wrote the final chapter.  I did some edits today, and sent it off to a friend to give it a read through.  I have another friend/English professor standing by to edit it.  As I told my friend, it's a first novel.  It's likely crap, what I need to know is if any of the crap is salvageable.  So I have something to show for two years worth of effort.  Now where this story goes from here is anyone's guess.

Congratulations - you're a better girl than I am.... [grin] Keep us updated on any developments!

Well Done! You should be proud of yourself. Few make it even this far.

Now to see if they think it's total crap and I should scrap it and start a different book or stick with remodeling houses.😆

You never can tell with these things. Just think of J K Rowling.... [grin]

But the main thing, no matter what comes next, is that you FINISHED it! That alone is an achievement.

I remember looking up what was the most times a manuscript was rejected before being published. Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Robert M. Pirsig was rejected 121 times before it was published. I figured I shouldn't give up until I reach 122. 😊 I'll be asking you to read it once I get word that it's not total rubbish, or once I re-write problem areas, whichever comes last. 😆

It's amazing just how many now famous authors and classic works were rejected time and time again. I bet some editors and publishing houses still wake up in a cold sweat in the middle of the night over books and authors they let go to others with more faith or more luck than them. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!

Thank you! Have you heard anything from Naomi since she stopped blogging? I've messaged her a few times but have not received a response.
