Happy Valentine's Day! I hope you are spending it with someone you love and that they treat you really well, not just on this day, but everyday. M surprised me, which is not that easy. First, I don't really care for the whole candy and flowers thing. It's okay, but I'm not a big candy eater and most candy for me for any holiday goes to waste. So I told M that the Taylor Swift CD would be a good substitute for me. Well, she goes off to go shopping and is gone for hours and I can't figure out where she's gone. When she eventually returns and we exchange Valentine's cards and gifts, I open the CD and it has a remote control sitting on top of it. I knew immediately what it was. See, the place where I do all my singing like a rock star is in the car. I LOVE my 6 CD system in there, but sadly, it broke a few weeks back and I've been without singing music since then. She went out and had a new CD player installed in the car. Woo-hoo! It's got great volume too, so I can sing at the top of my lungs. The only thing that spoiled it was when she said, "we're all going to have to suffer for this gift." What?! ;-)

Happy Birthday to my now 18 year old son. *sigh* This was the only non-blurry picture I could get of him. He didn't want me to take his picture.

His sister made him a really tasty chocolate cake with an ice cream and crushed oreo cookie center. She also made him a birthday card, the front was her rendition of one of his game controllers.

The inside was a list of all the things he could do now that he's 18, a lot of which I'd just as soon not have him do. *sigh again* So we're coming down the home stretch. He's been accepted to a couple of colleges, already been offered a small scholarship to one. The fates be willing, he will be out of the house at the end of the summer and then I can examine this whole "empty nest syndrome" that others have lamented. So wish me luck in getting the last one out of the house and off to start his own life.

Yeah, I know, that's why I told M we need to sell our house as soon as he moves out and move into a 1 bedroom place so there's no room for them to come back. Min would rather die than move back home, but B would be perfectly happy staying at home and having me foot the bill and having no responsibilities. Not happening!

I'm glad that she mentioned the "be tried as an adult" part. ;)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY B! Sadly, being an adult ain't all it's cracked up to be.

Z has been cramping my singing style lately. We drive home from work together, so the only time I can sing is on my way to work. My voice is a bit croaky at 5:30 a.m.

I was hoping she'd include after "totally independent of parental control" a line about how that only happens if you're working and not living at home. Oh well. As for singing, I'd sing anyway, he'll either buy ear plugs or sing along, don't ya think?

Hi VV, I lead a sheltered life what is a Hookah Club, is it simiar to a Stripper Club. K will be 25 in a couple of months, and this past week received the questionare they send out for potiental jurors, and she was really excited, thinks it might be interesting, or possiblilty fun? Go Figure. Did tell her, that it can be pretty enlightining. And at least she is a regerstered voter, not sure if she has actually voted in an election, but she could. With a war going on I hate the idea of any one's child being sent off to war, but barring that I personally think that military service, Or some other Service orgiznation, is a really good thing for young people. I really like the europen concept, of at least a year, to find one's self before going on to a secondary education. Don't know if it really is a good idea or not, sounds good to me for assorted reasons. Told Bobby, not sure if I like the Facial Fur or not, that I prefer the all over fuz, he said what he has is about all you would tolorate, told him not to give you a hard time... ya think that means anything. The colors in my world today are happy :) and maybe a little delusional. Sorry about the spelling.

Ditto Larena on the empty nest. As much as I wish for a partner, I doubt I'd EVER want anyone living in my space again permanently.

I often wonder how my ex-husband's mother likes having him back with her permanently. She resented me when we were married because I stole her man - now I bet she wishes he'd find another floosy. She was close to 80 when he moved back in with her after we separated. He was living with her when I moved up here. Maybe she doesn't mind a bit - they always made a lovely couple.

Pate, A Hookah Club is a place where they smoke Turkish pipes, using tobacco as far as I know. Glad your world is happy today. Have you spoken to Marilyn lately? I think she could use someone to talk to.

Pen, if anything ever happens to my partner, I can't see me ever being with anyone again. She's set the bar so high, no one could meet my standards any more. I'm hoping she inherited her grandmother's genes. She lived to over 100.

VV, no have not spoken with her lately, did read her blog, and yes you are correct. Together we are not always the best pair to bring spirits up. But certainly do have the ear to listen. Its a dark place and really hard to get out of. And we share a common experience. I miss her being with me at work. When I say the colors in my world are happy, tend to be a Don Rickels humor kinda person. pat

And on and on and on

Still busy!  Surprised?  I think this is just the state of my life.  I'm teaching an on-line course, traveling three weeks in a row (MD,...
