Goodby Earl!

So we went out for our usual Thursday night gathering with friends and even though this picture doesn't do it justice, the sunset was gorgeous and kept changing colors until it got dark. I don't know if it was because of the cold front pushing in or Earl off the coast, but it was beautiful. So Earl is far enough off shore that it's not going to be a big deal for Maryland. I think part of Massachusetts might still get a bit of it, but we're fine here. M and I are heading up to NY this weekend to see my sis, P and my other sis, D, is also coming to town for the weekend from Massachusetts. Good time to leave town for her. So I will be back around on Monday to check out your blogs. Hope you have a lovely Labor Day weekend.

So glad Earl decided to stay Waaaay off shore! Hope you had a wonderful time visiting P and D.....and I hope it was a blessed Labor Day Weekend for you, including today!

In regard to your comment: ALL the Designers back-in-the-day, were brilliant and top notch--Costumes, Lightinginh people, Director of Photography and Production Designers---these people were the "tops" in what they did, in every way....I think this was part of the GREAT aspect of the "Studio" days, when everyone was under contract and they hired the Best Of The Best. I agree with you--the lighting in these Black & White films was exceptional and added so much to the look and the mood of a film...and the Costume Designers were the TOP people, too...Adrian, for instance....Just fantastic! And many others, too....Edith Head and Helen Rose and Oleg Cassini, etc., etc., etc.....
