Have you heard about the people occupying Wall St., Chicago, San Francisco? If not, you should be asking your local news source why they are not reporting on the news.
For the past 3 weeks, protesters have been gathering, marching, picketing Wall St. and their numbers are growing. The protests in NYC have spawned other protests around the country. What are they protesting? A lot of things:
*the bad economy,
*the obscene wealth of Wall St. at the expense of the American people,
*the corruption of corporate America that has crippled the American economy
*the trillions of dollars in profits that corporate America is sitting on and not reinvesting it here or hiring people who desperately need jobs,
*the corporate purchase of the U.S. Congress so that the wealthiest few in this nation keep getting richer while the middle-class is killed off and more people sink into poverty,
*the lack of affordable healthcare,
*the student loan industry, making indentured servants out of most people coming out of college.
Basically they're protesting everything that is going wrong with America and it's financial situation that is harming the American people. They say they were inspired by the revolutions in the Middle East and North Africa. I say more power to them. This rape of the American people cannot continue without somebody fighting back.
Swerve Left has a more in-depth post about this and says: "our failed system that has allowed the 400 richest Americans at the top to amass more wealth than the 180 million Americans at the bottom." Sounds a lot like the situation just prior to the French Revolution.
