P!nk

I received the gift of music for Valentine's Day from M (iTunes card) so I had my son download a number of favorite tunes. One of them was by P!nk. I'd forgotten how much I liked her music and her smartass way of taking things on. The more I thought about her music choices and lyrics, the more I realized, here was a very overlooked artist. Unlike a lot of young musicians, she doesn't sing just about sex, partying and getting lucky. Although her first song, "Let's Get This Party Started" would have made you think she would be like all the rest. No, somewhere along the way, she veered off the beaten path, avoided the whole plastic Barbie Doll singer routine and forged her own path, that of an intelligent, assertive woman, singing about things more important to her than looks, clothes and guys. Below are some of my favorite P!nk songs. Listen to the words and tell me what you think. P!nk's Official Website

Her breakout hit when she first came on the scene: Let's Get This Party Started

Just Like A Pill I think the thing I like about her music is that she's paying attention. She's seeing contradictions, absurdities and trying to figure things out, just like we all are.

Family Portrait If you ever wondered at the pain and scars children get from a dysfunctional family, P!nk carried hers into adulthood and put them in a song.

This song is entitled, "U and Ur Hand" which needs no explanation. You might want to go to YouTube to see the original video for this song. I like it better than this disco remix. U and Ur Hand original video

You'll have to click on this link and go to YouTube to see this video, but I think the video really demonstrates P!nk's take on the absurdity of how girls behave for attention.Stupid Girls video

This is one of her more politically thoughtful.

That one with dysfunctional families is creepy. I had goosebumps all the while listening and watching it. Was that her daughter in the video or just some one that looked a lot like her?? Its amazing I have never heard alot of music like this before. I have always liked Madona but never listened to much else until I met Jeff.

Hi Tweets, no that's not her daughter. She doesn't have any children. That was just an actress they hired to play the younger version of her I think.

I lost my comment because of the word verification. I was just saying wow they did a great job finding a little girl that looked just like her..

Dear Mr. President..THIS IS MY FAVORITE OF HER SONGS! It is so very touching and says it all...!

About your comment: Were you over-reacting? Well, I don't know. I didn't botice this "camera work"...And I don't know what that says about me...lol...But, it does seem that it was not exactly Good Form to have the camera go to Angelina & Brad during that Animation. As to why Jennifer Anniston accepted this "assignment"...Well, she had to know they would both be in the front row. BOTH of them being nominated in the TWO TOP ACTING AWARDS.....She said "yes", she would do it. Maybe that says...she has truly moved on. I honestly don't know, but...as far as the "director" choosing to show them while she was doing her thing----I think that was tacky....!

I haven't really paid much attention to Pink. I guess I'll have to start really listening to her lyrics. ;)

I love ABSOLUTELY love Pink!! Her new one, SO WHAT is awesome too! I have never seen the Family Portrait video before, it's absolutely heartbreaking, especially when my own children have 2 addresses. :-(
