Happy Thanksgiving!

Once again this year we will be hosting Thanksgiving for the "orphans" in town, those people we know and work with who have no family nearby and who won't be venturing home for the holiday. Last year it got a little crazy with about 24 people. This year we were thankful that it appeared our numbers would be around 10, then others began hearing about our gathering and it started to look like it would get out of control again. So M nipped it in the bud by issuing the following proclamation: Hors d'hoeuvres would be served around 4 for anyone who would like to stop in on their way to other parties, dinner at 6 for those who had already confirmed they would be dinner guests, and 8 for anyone who wanted to come for dessert. Whew!

This year will also be a little bit easier because we won't have to line up 3 tables end-to-end just to seat everyone together. This year I found an amazing table at Salvation Army for $75. It was some sort of hotel remodel or overstock deal where they got about a dozen of these really large tables and sold them all really cheap. The table in its small position seats 6 _very_ comfortably, and when we add the two leaves that came with the table, we can seat 10 _very_ comfortably. It's going to be weird not having to figure out who has to straddle the table legs on all the tables shoved together. ;-)

I'm always the one who winds up straddling the table legs.

Our family has always invited the "orphans" for holiday meals too. The more, the merrier!

Who is cooking? and will it be homemade stuffing, the only reason to fix a turkey on Thanks Giving :) Enjoy your company and do not eat too much.

We are hosting one friend. He is living out of his car some nights. So more than likely we will give him a warm place to live but he has to leave when Jeff leaves Friday morning at six. Something happened with a friend of Jeff's when we moved to town so our rule is no more guys over here when Jeff isnt home..

Tshsmom, I feel your pain. I usually knock my knees on the table legs.

CK, it was an awesome meal! M is the best cook I know and each of our guests brought something yummy to share as well. The next time you get to the states, stop by and we'll do a Thanksgiving dinner for you.

Pat, darn, wish I'd seen your warning before I ate too much. ;-)

OL, thanks so much. I hope you had a good meal with friends as well. Nothing quite like the company of good friends with good food.

Tweets, Yikes! Some friend, huh?

Kelly, so good to hear from you. Did Tony make it home safely? Did he bring you any souvenirs from Vegas? We also do a big Christmas dinner too, so you're right on topic.
