No Time for Slackers

So I've been too busy to blog again. The two jobs are keeping me busy, especially the teaching job. I currently have 190 research papers to grade, with a final in 2 weeks and those grades to get in as well. Everything is essay, no multiple-choice so it takes a lot longer to read through everything. The other job is going along as well. I just finished a very long and detailed breach of contract complaint. I'm in the midst of a complicated divorce and another amended complaint. So I'm busy and that's good for business, but I will be thankful for Christmas break on the teaching job. I've got my books to get in order before tax time and it's going to be good to be in the same office 5 days a week for a little bit to get caught up on everything.

I did manage to get some Christmas shopping done last weekend. I got up a little early for the Black Friday sales. It's going to be a very modest Christmas. The Christmas shopping did get me more in the mood for the holiday and I also made time to put up a few outside decorations with M's and B's able assistance. I'll get pictures of those up soon. I managed to snag a giant outdoor wreath for the outside of our house at an end of the season sale last year so I am very proud we got that up on the roof and mounted to the front of our house. Gotta get back to work. Christmas pictures coming soon.

Hi Karen, glad to see that your getting in the mood for Christmas. It has not happened for me as of yet. Hopefully soon, the gift giving part is not nearly as fun, with out small children. We did a couple of boxes for Christmas Child. And will most likely do one for military personal, but no decorations up yet and we still get a live xmas tree hopefully John can find one that we planted, that has not gotten too large. They are asking $15.00 for a 3 ft tree, around here that is like highway robbery. Were I work, the project about 70 people adopt a family, and buy christmas presents & christmas dinner for a family of 6 usally, normally I do the collecting and gift buying with funds raised, but with John's upcoming surgery, think, am going to try to get someone else to head this up this year. Don't work too hard.

Pat, "Don't work too hard." Oops, too late, wish I'd known. ;-) Hope John's surgery goes well. I think doing Christmas for other families is a good way to satisfy that gift giving urge once your children are grown. I'm going to be ringing the Salvation Army bell for a couple hours this week. I'm really torn on this. They discriminate against gay people, but they helped our family so much while we were growing up. I'm going with the loving attitude that I should live by example and help them out so they can help others, maybe things will change one day.

The past 3 years, I have also rung bell for the Salavation Army at the P&C, usally a couple of Saturdays. But that one will have to play by ear at this point, also because am scheduled to work a few Saturdays at this point along with my up coming nursing duties. Am not a good nurse by the way, my fuse gets a little short. And plant is closed, we think between xmas and new years, that is a long time, to be stuck in the house with a grumpy old man :). And yes there were many christmas as well as thanks giving dinners that were provided to our family by those people. And am sure that they were called upon to help in other ways that we are not aware of. Do you remember Mrs Welsh, she was a school nurse at the pink prison. And at one point was a truant officer, and had to chase mom in one door and out another of the cookie-jar. Mom was always a bad girl.

I always told L that I was gonna get an outdoor wreath when we got a new porch. Now that we have the new porch, I can't afford the wreath. Story of my life. ;)

You're a BRAVE woman, venturing out on Black Friday!

HI PAT!!

P, I remember Mrs. Welsh. I wrote about her at Christmas on one of my old blog posts. Remember?

tshsmom, what size wreath do you need? I'm the queen of getting something for nothing. I can keep an eye out for you.

Hi Tweets, nope, I haven't seen the package yet. Did you mail it U.S. Mail or UPS? As for Christmas presents for kids, I never had trouble finding tons of stuff for my kids when they were little, just trouble affording it all or resisting not getting it all. :-)

I sent it by US Mail... I couldnt afford the UPS rate right now.. It should be there soon then.. Just let me know when it does..

Nope I do not remember the post, but that does not mean a lot, seem to be forgetting a lot of things. but mostly the every day stuff, like things my hubby tells me, think it's selective hearing, and nothing more. Seems that things/ and or people that are important to him are the things that I tend to forget, but not all. There is an elderly woman from church who tells me don't get old you wont like it. :)

Hi Kathy, staying warm?

Pat, we've stayed warm so far. Tonight the temps are supposed to dip below zero, so I guess the honeymoon is over. ;)
